Not ready for the fire just yet!

This old tree has been hit by lightening, flooded on many occasions, pollarded and heavily cut back owing to dangerous branches etc.

I suspect that it is a Beech but will have to wait for the leaves.

It still stubbornly refuses to die and be turned into firewood and is sprouting again at the base.

Love the contrast and the battle with the building next to it!
