A Stirling-Gowan Gem
Easily one of Leicester's finest buildings of any era, and quite possibly the city's finest post-war building. The highly significant 1959 Leicester Engineering Building was part of short lived Stirling/Gowan partnerships 'red trilogy' of university buildings in Oxford and Cambridge. This one, due to Leicester's more industrial outlook, was the most extreme realisation of their pioneering modernist vision.
