Bank Holiday Monday
A day out and about; starting at the Portrait Gallery. Fascinating stuff. The Reformation to the Jacobites. I tell you, if you read the story of every picture in those Galleries, as indeed I did, you come out a very informed person. As indeed I was, until I started forgetting it all over again. After that I traipsed up to the Old Town and had a seat and a refreshment.
And now that it's the evening and I'm heading out, it's chucking it down. That reminds me, the other thing of note was that I read Mark Lawson's review of Homelands and wished I'd started watching it. Maybe it's somewhere in the marvel that's cable TV. Oh, and there was an excellent piece on meritocracy by Gary Younge in the Guardian. Spot-effin-on!
