Two
The day started early. Not due to child birthday excitement but due to me forgetting to turn my 5.30 Monday work alarm off for the bank holiday.
Crumpets and cards in bed for Boy were followed by a couple of presents before we all got up properly and headed downstairs. Boy was very good at slowly getting through his pressies, stopping to play with each one after opening. Girl struggled a bit with this as her excitement wanted all opened as soon as possible.
Today is a popular birthday date as Boy shares it with three of our friends. So this morning we headed over in the rain to one of Girls best friends who was four today for a party which was lots of fun indeed involving lots of party food, pass the parcel and dancing.
This afternoon the sun decided to come out very briefly so we headed down to the hot walls in Old Portsmouth for a quick pre-dinner charge around. Whilst there I got distracted by the big gulls as here, and here, and here and here, whilst the rest played on the beach. Boy didn't like the taste of the sand so we headed home for dinner and birthday cake which Wife had lovingly made and I had tried to decorate with my own created edible skateboard.
Anyway Boy seemed suitably impressed as we sang the special song.
So two years gone of having two little ones, all of which blipped. Sometimes it feels like it has gone in a flash, mainly when I look at how old I have suddenly become in the mirror. Other times (usually when awake in the night) it has felt like forever. Already it feels like it has started to get better as they get older, though this may just be wishful thinking as we hit the terrible twos and then the terrifying threes for the lad.
Anyway there is no doubt looking back a year that he has grown. So much so that he has even let me put him to bed tonight with only a little bit of moaning.
Happy Birthday Boy!
