The Iron Eagle

I've had the song, "Wings of an Eagle" by Australian singer Russell Morris, on constant replay in my mind all day, since visiting the Iron Eagle at Kirra Point Lookout, Queensland, this morning.

There has to be a story behind the eagle, although I am yet to find it. I wonder if there's a tourist centre at Coolangatta? Of course there must be! This is the Gold Coast. I'll have to locate it and see if anyone knows why the eagle is there.

He is quite a majestic iron fellow and appears to be soaring out across the ocean below the lookout.
