Saltburn - it's so Bracing!
On the recommendation of our hosts, we took a short drive into Saltburn-by-the Sea this morning, where we discovered many of the Olympics contestants, albeit in wooly and miniaturised form. It would appear that guerrilla knitters have been at work...
We liked Saltburn, an old Victorian resort that still has a bit of life to it, and a pretty active arts scene. There a great little cafe right on the seafront (Surf's Up) and an equally good fish and chip restaurant next door that we'll return to later in the week. Ah, the advantages of back-blipping - I can forsee the future.
From the town website: Saltburnbysea.com
Saltburn by the Sea has maintained much of its original charm as a Victorian seaside resort including its pier, the colourful Italian Gardens and walks through Riftswood. Saltburn has the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain that is still in operation, linking the town with the pier 120 feet below. You can park at sea level where the old fishing village straddles Skelton Beck.
