Lovely day for a walk
The sun shone and we had a walk along the lovely river Eden. We saw St Cuthbert's caves cut into the sandstone and used as storage by monks, a heron, a swan Chloe swimming, Chloe running, Wetheral priory gatehouse, wide open, lit, with plenty of information board, but un-manned. Well done English Heritage!
We also saw this which is the impressive cascade (waterfall to us) which comes from Corby Castle down to the Eden. No water in it unfortuanately (I seem to remember reading that it never worked very well). This did not stop Chloe swimming over to investigate a duck. You can just see her in the photo.
