Sleeping Rough

This is how it is for some families, there has been an increase in people sleeping in shocking conditions post earthquake. There are pockets of rough sleepers all over Christchurch due to lack of housing post earthquake and the increase in cost of rental properties. Make a profit out of peoples misery!!!
In today's Christchurch Press there was a Housing Summit article that
lays claim to 'Third World City' tag for Christchurch. Different speakers stated that 'people could be forced to live in quake-damaged eastern suburbs, creating ghettos' - it is already here.
The emphasis is on the economic development of the Central Business District - however the Government and Council need to be more focussed on the ever present social issues that are increasing.
Yep, I am on my soap box - all around our neighbourhood people are 'making do' in poverty not of their creation...but by Mother nature and Right Wing Government!!!!! The right wing is increasing world wide ...bit of a worry really.!
