Small House - Big History

Höfði is the name of this white house in Reykjavik. It was built in 1909 for the French consul in Iceland. It became famous all over the world when Reagan and Gorbachev had their meeting there in 1986 with very short notice.

Another famous meeting was there in August 1991 when the Icelandic government decided to sign an agreement of diplomatic relations with the Baltic States, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The Big Surprise was that SØB, I and our wifes had arranged a Nordic Light Animation meeting in Iceland and invited 10 people from the Baltic countries, but people form the Nordic counties were here also. The media knew about this and we were invited to the meeting.

I put a news photo in the Blipfolio that was taken when we rejoiced the signing. From left: SØB, in the back Zenonas Steinys and Robertas Urbanes (Lithuania). In the middle Rein Raamat (Estonia) then Sigga my wife, behind her Priit Pärn (Estonia) and I behind him and rising my hand with the sign of Victory. Íslendingar brutu ísinn - The Icelanders broke the Ice.
