Parks and Bears
I drove Phil to his Thursday petanque game in Cornwall Park this morning, then stopped at Lake Padden Park myself on the way home, as the sunny day boded well for some photos. The unusual garb worn by one of the lakeside fishers intrigued me, but I didn't want to disturb her concentration, and ambled a few yards away to admire the reflections in the water, and the contrast between reeds and reflections.
M and I did a few important errands, including a stop at Chocolate Necessities, before arriving back at Cornwall Park at noon to pick up Phil. While we were waiting for the petanque game to end, I noticed the magnificent trees in this part of the 65-acre park, and and then the contrast between M's height and the size of the trees. Sometimes it pays to look up!
The afternoon was spent in the pleasures of lunch at an excellent Mexican restaurant and then a leisurely shopping expedition at Costco, where M found the friend she's pictured with in my blip. Fortunately, she didn't ask to take it home!
Our big event tomorrow is Girls Night Out, starting at 4pm in the historic Fairhaven district. It's the seventh such event, all of them benefiting the St. Joseph/Peace Health Cancer Resarch Center here in Bellingham.
More than 40 Fairhaven businesses will have special offers, giveaways, food, and raffle draws , and the odds are pretty good! From 6 to 8pm you can have your photo taken with a firefighter, and starting at 8pm, enjoy a fashion show, silent auction, "Let's Get Physical" live auction (dance lessons, personal trainer sessions, martial arts, etc.), door prizes, food and drink specials, and "Totally 80s Dance Party" at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal on the bay. Sounds like a wealth of blip opportunities to me!
I think I'll be posting late on Friday...
