Nesting with needles
To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.

The house wrens are busy building in the bright spring sun. The old gourd house they have selected is rather large, but they raised their first brood there last season as well. We had some chickadees taking interest in the house, but the pushy wrens put a stop to that. The morning air is clear and bright with flashes of orioles high in the trees and the music of catbird calls. Mr. Sharpie has not shown up as yet, but the warmer weather makes the constant feeding a bit less frantic. Hopefully he's out and about enjoying himself with a Mrs...
I'm off to painting in an hour and then we have plans to drive to Cape Cod late this afternoon with a friend to hear another old friend sing with her choral group, Common Voices in Brewster, MA.
For the Record.
This day came in bright and sunny after a week of rain. We made up 8 of the 10 inches we were lacking after a dry snowless winter.
