Hide & Seek pt 2

Out on another hide and seek adventure today, this one a slightly more difficult task... Searching for evidence of badgers.

We are trying to put in a new path from the top of an old railway line, down the banking to link into a path running around a community wetland area. The whole project seemed fairly straight forward enough until a couple of weeks ago when we discovered a couple of badger setts on the banking.

So today my colleague and I returned to carry out a full badger survey, searching for paw prints, caught hairs or latrines. Despite searching for literally hours up, down and round the site all we managed to find were a few snuffle holes like this one. Would you have spotted them?? I'm not sure I would have had they not been pointed out!

Of course they might just have been made by rabbits finding burrow material, but after almost four hours in the rain and sleet I'm saying they were definitely the work of badgers!
