Lightning never strikes twice in the same place!
Well this one won't anymore.
This is a Lightening fighter that acts as a Gate Guardian at RAF Samlesbury near Blackburn in Lancashire.
In her day she was part of the UK contribution to the Cold War effort and was famous for jsut being polished metal and no paint.
The story goes that they never found out how fast she could fly as the airframe started to come apart as rivets fell out before they got the throttle fully open!
Seems sad to see her in this dilapidated state
