The Garage Ornament
Today may go down as one of the best in my life (sad I know). It has been a dream of mine since I was pretty young to own one of the exotic French cars that I used to see on our summer holidays, and today it came true.
I got up early, got on the train to York and was met by the very nice seller of JHJ822L , Ian. After doing some paperwork with the V5, we headed off to a quiet lane, where he instructed me in the various controls (I'd never driven a column change before - tricky for about 5 minutes and I found myself in the wrong gear a couple of times at roundabouts, but the car will do 15 in 4th), and then after dropping him at home, I was off on the 250 mile journey up the A1 home. A beautiful day, with bright sunshine and only a few spots of rain, and the car is as I always hoped, a dream to drive, genuinely like a magic carpet ride, complete with whooshing sounds (above 60, there is quite a lot of wind noise).
So now it sits in my garage. I havent crashed it, or set everything on fire, scratched it on the entrance, or any of the other rubbish that I worried about. Florence even got in it for 5 minutes and like how comfortable it was and how she could see out. Hope likes the fact that it has windows she can wind up and down herself. Jane has even agreed that tomorrow we will go out in it to visit friends.
And now I will relax.
