Le Festival Rebrousse-poil

A word of advice: don't agree to go to two meetings in one evening, both of which involve aperitifs. And if you do engage in such a foolish activity, don't then end up skipping the natural progression -- dinner -- altogether, and just sit around a neighbour's table talking and drinking till midnight instead.

It was great fun, but we felt a little fragile this morning. So we had a very quiet day before driving over to Montlaur for the Festival Rebrousse-Poil. Despite the fact that Montlaur is only about 10 km away, we don't go there often, because it's on the wrong side of the mountain. After admiring the art in the dry riverbed, we went for a stroll around the village, and discovered parts of it that we'd never seen before. There are a ton of blipportunities here. Montlaur is on a small hill overlooking a green valley, with lovely views -- it's quite different from our side of the mountain, because they get all the rain.

Anyway, I decided to stick to blipping the event itself. This is Samenakoa: "Une fanfare qui dynamite le Funk, le Reggae, le Jazz, le Hip-Hop et la musique de l'Est autour d'une grosse caisse chanteuse." Before the open-air dinner, they went on a quick tour round the village; they were excellent. We wanted to stay on to hear them play after dinner, but we were so exhausted that by 10:30 we could barely keep our eyes open, so we headed home. I might put some more photos in my blipfolio tomorrow, but I'm just too tired now -- time for bed!

Edit: I posted a set on Flickr.
