Gelato
This is a small one. ¥350.
Appeals to the bargain hunter in me, and the standing on a street corner eating it on a lovely warm spring day also gave me some people watching fun.
When you stand on a street corner with a humongous ice cream, small children look at you with awe and envy, and look up at their mums, then wistfully back at you with a resigned, "there is no way I'm getting one..." look on their faces.
Grown ups who have the power to buy an icecream when the notion takes them, and the cash to do it, smile with delight at the idea seed you have planted in their mind, and veer unexpectedly off in the direction of the nearby gelato shop.
Still others, non icecream appreciating types, look at you with a kind of smug contempt: "that's why you are fat!"
Yup, fat and happy!
(If you are ever in Hiroshima, and in a self indulgent mood, Polar Bear around the corner from Fukuya is the scene of the crime. Highly recommend the almond crunch!)
