A May tradition
We unexpectedly went to our first Diamond Jubilee celebration today.
My friend whose granddaughter died of a brain tumour at the age of four makes and sells cakes for funds for a research foundation in her name. She told us of this Jubilee summer fair taking place on Heaton Hill where they would be having a cake stall.
For the first time in an age we had real Spring like weather so it was lovely to be out. There were lots of activities and stalls. Children were in fancy dress and there were races down the hill in self propelled vehicles.
We stayed until the Maypole dancing, which I haven't seen for years. I don't think they had quite got the technique right but they were having a good time.
A great afternoon of real British tradition and we had cake for tea!!
