Driffield: Land Rover show
A back-blip, as I didn't get home until about 1am! We visited the first Land Rover show of the year yesterday at Driffield, in Yorks. A longer drive that we had at first thought, and with a workshop starting today, had we camped over, as was our initial intention, it would have made a very early start today (having slept in a cold tent as well), so we left the showground at about 10, and drove back.
Great to see so many old friends, especially our newest friend - little Otto, who's 5 months old and has had a hard start in life, poor lad's had all sorts of heart problems, and it was so good to see him at last.
The show itself is quite a small affair, but the main point of any gathering like this is to sit around a barbeque and chat to friends, and make new ones too. Had a quick look round the club stands and other stalls, always amazed at the array of Land Rovers there. Couldn't choose a single image to sum up the day (apart from 7 hours driving there and back!) So went for the montage. This pic shows a fair cross-section: from the 1950's Series one still in regular use (bottom row - middle), through the immaculate Series 2 (top left), the Camel-Trophy owners club stand - including one of my cars, to the lurid-green custom land rover (bottom left) of questionable taste. I've also added a small Otto in the top right, with his proud Dad, Ben.
Good day, now onto todays blip!
