But it's a fake. Not an heroic survivor from the Victorian era that has somehow managed to hang on as the street around it has been redeveloped but, as it says on the base, a 'replica' post box. Why would you bother doing that on an ordinary street, outside the most modern of buildings? Why not a modern design that reflects the building behind it (the EICC - Edinburgh International Conference Centre)?
Took this on the way back from Socrates Cafe. Sadly only four of us there, so we ended up having a more free-format chat, or rather just continuing the one that had started as we waited for any others to arrive. Think we'll need to try and spread the word a bit and see if we can get a few more people for next time, in a fortnight's time.
