We'd hired a boat for the day and went to pick it up at 8am. The sea was completely calm and we headed for the reef which is 5 miles from shore. Within seconds of switching off the boat's engine, the kids were all feeling sick and the girls were throwing up. We'd gone to
the reef so that we could go snorkelling but they weren't too keen because they all felt sick. We did eventually persuade them to jump overboard but they didn't stay in the sea for very long. There were masses of fish (thanks to the vomit??) and live coral which you don't see very often. The water was crystal clear but unfortunately we didn't stay for too long. Even I felt sick and after a mouthful of salty water, I too wanted to go back.
Hubby drove us back to the hotel and he went out fishing with my son. The girls and I felt very sick and it took us a couple of hours to recover.
The boys came back for lunch and went out fishing again. By this time, daughter #2 felt better and went out with them. They were out all afternoon and caught lots of fish. They even managed to catch a seagull. Poor thing flew into hubby's line as he was casting and got the line tangled round its wing. Hubby reeled him in very carefully and tried to untangle the line but the seagull struggled too much and kept on trying to peck hubby. Hubby found the only way to keep the seagull calm was to let the seagull bite hubby's finger. This enabled hubby to free the seagull.
They were out at sea all afternoon and came
back just before 4pm. Daughter #1 and I went in the boat with them to fill up the fuel tank.
We saw a dolphin
