Round the bend
Had a really good run with Jinty today. Did quite a few circuits. Only a few little niggles but otherwise very good fun.
I was driving around this bend at one point. I was trying to get some water in the boiler as it was getting worryingly low. To do this you have to turn the water on and then the steam which forces the water into the boiler. When you turn the water on it's good to check that it's running out of the injector before turning the steam on and that it stops when you do. This way you know it is actually injecting the water into the boiler. To see the injector you have to lean over to the sides slightly to see under the running board. The trouble was, this is, as you can see, a right hand bend and I was looking at the left hand injector... The carriage tipped up onto two wheels and I had to put my hands on the bank to steady myself and put my foot out. We were going reasonable speed though so it was rather tricky running along on my hands and foot! Ti (the guy sitting behind me) grabbed me and helped pull me upright again and I was able to carry on driving. How I didn't derail I'll never know!! It was like a scene from wallace and gromit... makes me laugh every time I think about it... nearly lost the driver and left Ti and my dad on the train... not good having a driver fall off ;)
