The Hunger Games....

...came to the garden today.

The neighbours called round to tell me that the Great Tits had fledged and there was one on my patio (Blip-ortunity).

By the time I got my camera it had disappeared but I caught this Jay on the neighbour's fence. A couple of minutes later it had swooped in and taken one of the fledglings. The parents were distraught, mobbing the Jay, but sadly to no effect.

I know it's "nature" but those poor birds had worked so hard and they had already lost one baby to the Magpies :'-(
