May is supposed to have the best weather of any month in the Hebrides... apparently it forgot this fact today. I've only experienced worse weather a couple of times in the past.

Most of the day I didn't fancy getting out of the car at all with the rain blowing horizontally. I took the opportunity to take a bit of a tour and went to see some of the beaches in the north of Lewis (and enjoyed the opportunity to read and doze in the car) and visited the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis. This photo was taken in a very brief excursion from the car... Not by best shot ever, but it does try to show the size of the rollers which were hitting in. My guess was that they were 4-5m high, truly impressive.

Hoping that the ferry will be running on Tuesday when I'm due to be heading back over The Minch...

Catching up, so a couple of back-blips:
- Friday 11 May 2012: MacLeod Stone Beach, Harris
- Saturday 12 May 2012: 'Beach Abstract'
