Happy Mother's Day

Don't get me wrong, I love the premise behind a day to celebrate Mom. But, lets get real ladies... how many of us are placed on the proverbial pedestal on our day of days?

In my house it's business as usual - and I wouldn't have it any other way. What a better way to celebrate Mother's Day than being a real, true-to-life, dirty house, dirty kids, can't find my left sneaker.... Mom!

I am who I am today due to the life-long lessons taught through modeling by my incredible mother. My mom is my best-friend - she continues to teach me about what's important in life and continues to be the person I look to for validation that I'm doing a good job. Thank you Mom for my incredible upbringing, and for your continued support and undying love!

Today, BJ and I spent some time working around the house in the morning, then decided to take the kids bowling for the afternoon. They had asked to go for a few weeks. We were the ONLY people at T&B's - and we really enjoyed it! They opened the lane for us, we all put on the fancy bowling shoes, had our choice of bowling balls and the nice lady helping us gave me the ultimate advantage to challenge my husband by putting the bumpers up. I was thrilled... this will be a Happy Mom's Day!!

After a few strings, my score sat comfortably at 28. Not a score that would gain any fans, however a couple of months ago, I bowled a high score of 43 for 10 strings! I decided that I'd turn up the heat on my game and showed the kids my secret bowling stye... the backward-granny shot. As I made my release, I watched as the kids followed the ball down the lane and knocked over 9 pins. I was an instant super-hero! I started a trend and both kids just had to try my new method. It wasn't as successful for them and they aborted their attempts quickly.

I am happy to report that out of 3 strings bowled, I managed to pull a personal best of 106. As for BJ, he was indeed challenged... he bowled 116. Not bad for a backward-granny bowling Mom on Mother's Day.

The best part of my day was spent having fun with my family - isn't that what Mother's Day is all about?
