"The Yearling" - Marjorie Kinnan Rawling

Friends got me away from the house, which was a blessing. It's been a dream of mine to find "Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings" grave site in Island Grove, Florida. The Yearling and Cross Creek are my favorite books and movies about rural Florida back in the early 1900's. She won a Pulitzer Prize for "The Yearling" and wrote many short stories and other books. She donated her writings, personal letters, and photos to the University of Florida. My Aunt (by marriage) told me that one of the characters in her "Cross Creek" book was based on her brother. You just have to check her books and movies out to see the life she led as a business woman in rural Florida.
