Autumn at Kew

F and I spent the afternoon at Kew Gardens. It was an absolutely gloriously sunny day, and autumn colour was everywhere. We walked up the Rhizotron & Xstrata Treetop Walkway, which was a little too busy for us, but it was still fun. We watched the harlequin ladybirds scuttle their way up the tall metal legs. I remarked to F that the walkway would make a great vantage point to photograph parakeets because they usually stay in the mid to upper levels of the trees and I never grab a good shot of them. Sure enough, I looked down and there were a couple of parakeets scoffing the ripe pine nuts, thier beaks and feet covered in white nut mush.

We came home and cooked for our guests Jason and Jenny. Poor Jenny had completely lost her voice and could only squeak her way through the evening, much to the amusement of Jason. He wasn't very sympathetic. Luckily, Jenny saw the funny side of it, too! We had a lovely dinner (phew! I was cook) and then played Scrabble into the wee hours. Much fun!
