Arrival

The drive to Lochinver took approx 13 hours. We left at 10pm and arrived at circa 11 am. Once passed inverness we were greeted with a sudden drop in temperature, going down to -1.5C at one point. The the scenery changed dramatically with mountain after mountain. Many were snow capped. I got out the car to take a pic at altitude. I was shaking so much (from the cold) I gave up!

Anyhows this pic is of Ardvreck Castle, Assynt .The castle is thought to have been constructed around 1590 by the Clan MacLeod family who owned Assynt and the surrounding area from the 13th century onwards.

It was a lot warmer at ground level, hence no camera shake :)
