Lesser Black-backed Gull
Ok we're all familiar with the sight of a kestrel hovering over the motorway verge or hanging in the slightest breeze scanning the ground looking for small rodents.
But of course this is not the sole preserve of the Kestrel, with other birds having quite amazing mastery of the art of flight. The Chough on a cliff side or the Kingfisher hovering above a stream.
But what about the more common birds? Today's image shows a Lesser Black-backed Gull, riding the wind over a lagoon which contains a number of snack sized Juvenile coots, All efforts of the gull were thwarted by the staunch defence put up by the parents coots.
