Guided by the Pole Star

Okay, so I admit, its not really the pole star....its a beautiful light that my mother gave me a few years ago when I was ill....
I used to be fascinated by the stars...as well as dinosaurs and toilets....ok...I was a child.... and my mother knew this.
I kind of lost my way for a few years when I developed my eating disorder, and was very ill in hospital. My mother came to see me regularly, and on one particular visit, when I was in quite a bad way, we were reminiscing about my childhood addictions, and she brought up my love of stars...When she was getting ready to leave, she gave me a little box. She told me to always use it to guide me home when I was lost....In the box was this little star.
I just found this today whilst clearing out boxes, and so felt the need to Blip it....This star usually sits by my bed...and is here tonight.
Whenever I am lost or down, I think of the little star and I remember my mothers words, and I feel content.....It is the last thing I see when I go to sleep, and the first thing I see when I open my eyes...okay, it costs me a fortune in batteries, and its magical.
I always know where I am, and where home is, just by looking at the pole star.....
So, I got to thinking....okay, not the best 10 in the world, but its a tough subject...lol
What are we guided by????...is it our grounding?...Here are my ideas.....
1...The morals we are brought up to believe and live by...
2...My own intuition...what feels right...
3...The tides of change...
4...The stars...
5...What we sometimes believe others expect of use, or to believe...whether right or wrong...
6...Our angels...
7...What we are educated in society to believe...
8...The winds of change...the north wind is said to be a great influence on our thoughts...
9...What we have experienced to date, hence changing our initial thoughts...
10...What our hearts tell us to...whether wrong or right...

Whatever it is, we truly are the makers of our own destiny aren't we????....

He who governs by his moral excellence may be compared to the Pole star which abides in its place while all other stars bow towards it
