Simply Having....

Despite appearances to the contrary, evening's out in large groups of people distress me greatly.

I always enjoy myself once I am there, but the stress of preparing myself to go, outweighs the joy of the dressing up and boufing my hair.

As it was last year, the weather turned on the way home. from the office - to ensure that any preparations were in vain.  Himself and I ran to the station clinging onto each other whilst balancing a umbrella between us.

We met the two youngest members of staff on the train, and traveled onward and upward to Glasgow . The restaurant was downstairs across the road from Central Station.   Wine was served, the food arrived, more wine was served, more food arrived.

From the early days of my time in this company, when 8 of us and partners attended a meal, last night there were a total of 38 of us.   Too many of us to be all seated together, and speak to everyone at any point in the evening.  There was must shouting along the lengths of the table, and new friends made in partners of new members of staff.

The noise from the other party in the restaurant was immense.  They were far more rounds of drinks ahead of us, and frequently performed mexian waves around the table.  A lot of the conversations I had, consisted of me looking intently at the person speaking, and nodding along, completely oblivious to the question I was responding positively to.   I pray I did not agree to any public speaking.

Once the meal was over, the restaurant staff were efficient in their tidying around us.

The four of us headed to the train station again and on the train were blessed to have a  local bampot dancing the length of the carriage singing songs and insulting people with the wit that only a drunk Scot can muster.

Himself and I decanted from the train,  and left the little ones to travel on down to their stop where a responsible parent/ guardian was waiting.

We danced home the 400 yards from the station and, had two cups of tea, and a watch of the Telly.  By the time we hit bed, it was 130, by the time i had checked everyone was home safe... it was gone 2.

Looking forward to work :-(
