The Queen's Jubilee Visit to Richmond Park
This afternoon I took Nick and Charlotte to Richmond Park, where we stood in the rain until we caught this fleeting glimpse of the Queen.
A small group of children were chosen at random by the school to attend the event and Louis was one of them. The local authority also allowed families to take their children out of school for the afternoon if they wished to, so I thought why not!
I have to say that Nick and Charlotte were pretty non-plussed by the whole affair (they just wanted to know when they could eat their snacks), Louis couldn't understand what all the fuss is about, having brought home a letter telling him to practice saying Ma'am to rhyme with Jam in case she picked him out for a chat ( "..but she's just another lady"), and I really can't repeat what my husband had to say about it all. But I was secretly excited about seeing the old gal !
I like the fact that we can be seen in the reflection on the side of the car. I am in the yellow coat, Charlotte is in front of me in pink and Nick is next to me in black with two little white feet.
