Italian Delight

One set of our Rye neighbours are Italian. Maria and Salvo (Sam) are about 70 and like many of their generation make their own salami, wine and grow many vegetables for home consumption. Sam's wine is good, powerful but a touch sweet for my palate.

Maria likes to teach us about Italian culture...so when she saw we were growing artichokes, she taught Louise how to cook stuffed artichokes by her traditional Italian recipe.

Now every year, Louise cooks our home grown artichokes in the style taught by Maria. It is a real treat, best served with red wine.
