Looks like we have a bestseller.
This 130 page book was written in 1903.
Last year the son of one of our neighbours found a battered old copy in a Cardiff bookshop and brought it back for her. She loved it so much that she got together with two or three others, including a descendant of the author, and they decided it deserved a wider readership.. They used Optical Character Reader software to enlarge the print and bring it back to life.
Eventually they came to Mrs. Knottman for help. She is a dab hand at these things and she got old postcards from a friend to give it some illustrations. The Barnes Charitable Trust in which both Knottman and Mrs. K are involved have financed the printing of 500 copies. I am relieved to say it is selling like mince pies. It is a lovely description of the AONB and its wildlife as it was in 1903.
