it may be an endangered species but the rhino is alive and well in Dumfries. This is a well-known landmark in Lincluden. The mother was sculpted and placed on a bus shelter in an attempt to brighten up the area about 40 years ago. Then the road was widened, the bus shelter taken down and the rhino removed. There was a loud protest from local residents, so the rhino got put back, with her own plinth...and a baby. Sweet.
