Drawn to the light

This is our dark sky view from our house, looking south towards Dover.  If we look north there is a yellow glow from Canterbury, east and we get the lights of the A299 and Thanet, west is constant headlights from the A2.  The human eye doesn't percieve the glow from Dover at all - no matter how long you look.
