A Fish Called Barbara (or Jenny)
This is one of the two fish who have found a new home in our new pond with its filtered water, having lived out the last few years in a cramped, unfiltered (and therefore dirty) pond. The old pond was so bad that we genuinely thought that the fish might not survive the move as the clean water might be too much of a shock.
Today, this fish, which Becky has consistently referred to as Barbara (the other one being Bob) as she says that all female fish are called Barbara, but Alex renamed her (it) Jenny. We don’t even know the type of fish never mind the gender but regardless of all that, it is good to see them enjoying the much larger pond and it is great to be able to see then at all times and not just when they appear at the surface.
The downside of course with the filtered water is that, despite the fact that there are only two fish in there, there is a hell of a lot of fish poo at the bottom of the pond. We were never really aware of that in the old pond because we never saw it but now it is very obvious because of the black pond liner and clear water. I hope Santa brings a pond hoover.
