LOG COLLAR #2 - a work-in-progress
I've left the hedge-laying for now. The ground is drying so I have switched to woodland work until the New Year. Earlier this week, Michael had dropped tons of over-hanging limbs to stabilize three oaks and today I started to process the product of his endeavors.
Some years ago I discovered the joys of log-piling for aesthetics. The only practical constraint is to ensure maximum exposure to wind for seasoning, and minimum footprint to leave space for the recovering ground flora. A tall and hollow log-pile works well and is especially satisfying if it is wrapped around the tree it came from (but without touching it).
We should thank Mr Goldsworthy, from whom I stole this idea.
This is just the start ... loads more oak is on the ground nearby...watch this space.
