Shoreham roundabout
After a difficult beginning to the day I decided to go out for a while to Shoreham to see what seabirds I could photograph.
There were a few including a rather spectacular pair of Greater black-backed gulls, the largest British gulls and always amazing to see, sadly my shots weren't so exciting, so that is a blip for another day!
on my way back I saw a pair of Herring gulls on a roundabout stamping madly on the grass, presumably to bring worms to the surface. I always enjoy watching them do this, they look so earnest and engrossed!!
In the end though I couldn't resist blipping the sheep and shepherd sculpture on the roundabout at the Adur flyover, sporting Santa hats.
This flock of plastic sheep was installed in November 2011 to promote the South Downs National park, but was quickly placed behind plastic barriers to stop people thinking they were real and reporting them to the emergency services. They were later removed for the same reason, but replaced when someone came up with the brilliant idea of adding a shepherd made of steel!
I think they are a welcome addition to the roundabout and enjoy seeing them when I go that way, and I was very amused today to see they were also getting in the Christmas spirit!
