It's all about perspective....

Random child: "Hey Mum, look at these necklaces, they are soooo pretty".

'Wishing she wasn't shopping for Christmas' Mum: "No they're not darling, they are tacky and horrible".

'Excited' random child: "But mum, they are soooo pretty like a flower or chocolate & you could get one too".

'Really wishing she wasn't shopping for Christmas' Mum: "No they are not and chocolate isn't pretty, & mummy does not want a shiny necklace like that."

Random child 'with look of genius': "There's a skull one Mum, it's pretty & it's not shiny. How bout that one for you Mum? It's really beautiful?"

'Mentally exhausted wishing she was on another planet where Christmas did not exist' Mum: "No sweetheart."

'Affectionate if overwhelmed' random child: "It is beautiful Mum & I'll buy it for you with my $2".

It's funny what we value, how perspective changes. When that child grabbed that necklace to give to her Mum so her Mum would have something beautiful, something given with love - her Mum's face said it all - frustration washed away and that necklace became the most beautiful ever given. (& for what it's worth - I thought it looked beautiful on!)

Nice one kid :)

In the madness that comes with Christmas, don't forget to stop & look around - there are things worth seeing - good and other, that may just give you that gift ....another perspective :)
