In the year 1929, the bridge was opened, and the propulsive lying under the bridge. This traffic bridge over the river Maas, with 9 spans and a length of 515 meters, connects with North Brabant and Gelderland. Since the year 2004 to the bridge the name "John s. Thomson bridge" given. This as a tribute to Lieutenant Thompson, who along with 16 troops, after a hard fight, the bridge captured by the Germans.
