Midnight Special
Well not quite midnight but the Steam Railway ran a Christmas Carvery evening where the passengers enjoyed a three course dinner followed by a late night train ride into the Winter countryside.
The interior of the Isle of Wight is very dark and to see the stars through the carriage windows, passing the isolated lights of houses, before pulling into a gently lit station at the end of the line is a magical experience
conjuring up a bygone age. The warm glow from the engine and steam heated carriages all add to the atmosphere.
Blessed with a fine clear evening with even a visit from Santa a good time was had by all.
