A Festive Visit to Dennistoun

'Twas three days before Christmas and all through the land everything was stirring, even the mice.
We were en route to see Glasgow daughter and family, taking the slow train from Edinburgh to Glasgow which decanted us off near their home in Dennistoun but meant we travelled through a barren moorland landscape which in the rain and near darkness of a winter solstice Sunday, could well have been the approach to some Russian gulag.

The train was packed, but we escaped the mayhem of Glasgow city centre and instead fetched up in a warm festive house with sparkling Christmas tree and a wonderful welcome from the family.

Apart from its being Christmas, it will be Ewan's first birthday on Tuesday and so it was part birthday party but with Christmas thrown into the mix.
Our son- in-law had prepared a very tasty salmon quiche for lunch, while daughter Lucy had made a chocolate gateau for dessert

It is obvious that the liberal swilling of champagne and red wine has affected my focus in this blip, but you get the general ambience of the luncheon table.
Not only did the alcohol intake affect my use of the camera, it also sent me to sleep on the train home, so that I fortunately missed the gulag lands between Airdrie and Edinburgh Park.

It is always a mood enhancer to be in their home. With two artist parents and Nina having apparently inherited their ability, the house is filled with visually arresting art work.
It was a lovely visit to set the tone for Christmas week. Thank you Mick and Lucy..... not forgetting Nina and Ewan.
