Capability Brown's
Well it may be the Winter Solstice but we have nt seen much light today at ALL so afraid it was no good taking part in the Blipfoto challenge. But it must be onwards and upwards from now on as the days start to get longer again.
It really has rained all day and the roads are quite flooded so we took David to work which meant we were in town by 9.30am perfect timing for a visit to M&S.
We parked in Morrisons which meant we could go straight into the Eastgate Shopping Centre without getting wet. Next was open too and I managed to get two tops that I was after.
After getting meals for the beginning of the week and a few treats we headed to 'The wee Croft shop' , Capability Brown's , at Viewhill, Leachkin Brae, just outside Inverness.
It's a small bakery business and we came across it when we were driving around in the summer and discovered they had a page on facebook. The owner produces lots of tasty breads, cakes and puddings and they also have a small croft with a vegetable patch. Today they were holding a 'wee Christmas Fair'. We bought some lovely looking parsnips, some local blossom and heather honey, a dark ginger cake, a sticky toffee pudding and a plumduff for Christmas dessert. A plumduff is a cross between a clootie dumpling and a traditional Christmas pudding. Although the name suggests that it may contain plums it does nt, Victorians called all dried fruit plums. The one I choose has added homemade orange marmalade and lashings of dark chocolate, sounds yummy :)
I had some mulled wine, Mike had a sip but did nt want to risk anymore seeing as the drinking laws in Scotland have changed and we've always said it's just best not to drink and drive ! He did enjoy a slice of Christmas cake though :)
Yipee, just found the edit pencil :)
