Light not only illuminates ...

.... but also serves to highlight.

If not for the rather beautiful light mid-day today, the starkness of the tree in my back garden would not have been so obvious..  Every nuance of the growth in this tree which I love was evident and it just typified winter for me.   Bare, harsh, dark, sinister ....... for light to exist, darkness must also be present.    
There is a lightness to everything in existence but for it to be manifest - it must co-exist with the darkness.
