TODAY IS "THE MODERN YOUTH AND SPORT"

Looking to get more involved in coaching next season, but we need a few more players (small squad and a few leaving to a 1st Div team). So I had a gander on a Youth Football website and there are TONS of teams looking for players.

What has happened? In my day we had squads of 20 and loads of kids that couldn't get a game for love nor money. Now most of the clubs have been around for a long time, so it isn't a massive growth in clubs. I can only conclude that kids aren't participating as much as they used to. No wonder we have increasing levels of obesity in children.

So we should now have dispelled the myth that there aren't enough volunteers at grassroots level. Certainly in my observations on the South East of Scotland.

Anyone else noticed?
