Taking Off
We were a bit late to the river today to see eagles feeding on salmon. They were in the trees relaxing after their feed. This one sat for quite some time on a tree right across the river from a viewing spot. He was there quite a while before he finally took off. I had my camera on a tripod aimed in his direction so I was able to catch the take off. What magnificent birds Bald Eagles are!
And Helena is taking off today too. She came with me to see the eagles. When we got home, we loaded up the car with her last things and with Bunny, her cat. We unloaded it all and I said goodbye because I was parked in the loading zone. Not that we won't see her. Of course we will and she will be visiting our house frequently. But as of today, she has her own place again. We are so happy for her that she is there. It is a nice place and already it is looking very homey even though she has a bit more unpacking to do.
Of course Helena is coming to our house for Christmas. Steve and I are talking about an early morning foray to the Nooksack on Christmas morning. The weather is supposed to be good and we both would like to get some active feeding eagle photos. We've already had our family Christmas with present opening so we won't be missing that. And I expect there won't be too many twitchers there Christmas morning.
We will gather together at dinner time for a yummy salmon dinner, not exactly imitating the eagles, but with the same idea of delicious food. There will be five of us as Steve and his house mate Carroll will be there.
Meanwhile there are just a few days left before Christmas. Hope you are all having great holiday times with friends and family.
