Home run

Kicked off Christmas festivities with a trip into London last night for a party organised by the car company SEAT. I decided to drive in and stick to soft drinks, as late night travel home by public transport doesn't appeal. The event was at Kensington Roof Gardens, and I was very lucky to find a parking space right outside the door.

Well, I say lucky, but I always work on the basis that if you firmly believe you will find a parking space, somehow one always appears. Works for me, anyway.

It was a jolly, if rather loud evening. They had organised three zones: an active one for dancing, a games area, and a 'quiet' zone for talking. But when I sat chatting with chums in the latter, one of them who was telling us an interesting story became hoarse trying to be heard over the general cacophony. Others were downing delicious mojito cocktails, and so was I, but the 'virgin' version.

Headed home in Cinderella mode, leaving before midnight. On the way back, I went via Greenwich, and as I went round the one-way system my eye was caught by this view into the central market area cheerfully decorated with Christmas lights.

Can't help thinking about the tragic event in Central Glasgow yesterday afternoon. It won't be by any means a happy. Christmas for some.
