Since my conversion to cycling I'm drawn to bicycle shops. Of course, more children's bikes are sold at this time of year than at any other and the displays are so enticing  - like this little cameo of cuddly animals on the rear rack.
I remember my first two-wheeler aged 5 or 6 on Christmas day  and my Dad running along behind me in the cul de sac where we lived - gripping the saddle firmly,  until he announced I was balancing on my own without his steadying touch. I was away - experiencing the exhilaration of 'bike bliss'. I'm thrilled to have rediscovered this joy in later life with the added bonus of allowing me to photograph The Forth and Clyde Canal from the towpaths.
