Migrant in Moscow

Sunset

We had some light in Moscow today and this is what the sunset looked like.   That's the Hotel Ukraina in the background, another of the Seven Sisters.  Opened in 1957, and at 208 meters (including the spire!), it's the second tallest of the seven.  At one point it was the tallest hotel in Europe.

It was originally named "the Hotel building in Dorogomilovo".  Following Stalin's death, his successor, Nikita Khrushchev, reportedly wanted at least one of the Seven Sisters named after his beloved Ukraine and the name was consequently changed.
