Tyres.

This was the scene as I waited while new tyres were being fitted to the car, I really could have done without this expense but they are on now.  When I arrived at the garage I thought I might have to wait a while, but they were able to do the job right away as they were having a quiet spell.  It's going to be a tough Christmas for a lot of people.
